From December 27 to 28, 2019, in the city of Douala, Republic of Cameroon, the  Grand Opening of the “Center for open Education in Russian and Teaching the Russian Language” took place at the "RUSSIAN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL GALAXY" located in Makepe.

The opening of this center is a joint project of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation and the non-profit, non-governmental organization called: CENTER FOR LIBRARY INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGIES "RSL" which is an entity of the Central Library from Russia.

The opening ceremony began with the speech of the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Cameroon his Excellency Anatoly BASHKIN, followed by the speech of the Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation in Cameroon Dr. TCHUISSANG Jean Marie, a word of Madame TOZE Victoria Victorovna Russian, the language teacher at the "RUSSIAN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL GALAXY" and finally a word of the General Manager of ANO "CENTER BIT RSL" Madame Anna VLADIMIROVNA LEBEDEVA.

During this inauguration, a ceremony was held to donate a collection of books in the Russian language, a set of teaching materials, technical equipment for classrooms, and an electronic and digital library with Interlibrary internet connection was provided, which will enable a fast, fruitful and efficient connection of the Russian Central State Library and the libraries of CIS member states for the study of the Russian language.

The implementation of this major project will enable everyone to get acquainted with the Russian culture and traditions. Those who want to learn Russian will have the opportunity to get a quality and free education.

The objectives of the “Center for open Education in Russian and Training in Russian”  in Douala is not only to expand the possibilities of cultural interaction between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Cameroon but also a means to develop, support and promote friendly relations between both countries.
