Victory Day Commemorated in Cameroon

On May 9, the Russian International School “Galaxy” in Douala held celebrations dedicated to the 78th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

H.E. Anatoly BASHKIN, Ambassador of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Cameroon, during his speech at the rally-concert dedicated to the role of the Soviet people in the victory over Nazism, underlined that the memory of the defenders of the Motherland is sacred, it is kept with pride and honour in the heart of every Russian.

A presentation on Russia's role in the fight against Nazism and neo-Nazism was shown for students and their parents, as well as for members of the Russian-speaking diaspora. The heroes of the war years were commemorated in the traditional action “The Immortal Regiment”. In addition, the Russian film “Nuremberg” that tells about the most important trial of the 20th century – the tribunal of Nazi Germany’s leadership – was demonstrated.
